A MEMBER OF THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF YOUTH THEATRES
Welcome to the Urban Stage website.
Urban Stage was founded in 2003 by professional actors Simeon Truby (soon to be appearing in Sweeney Todd with Michael Ball & Imelda Staunton in London's West End) and Helen Kay (soon to be appearing in th new Kay Mellor drama The Syndicate). The aim was to offer students the opportunity to learn new skills and gain confidence through the performing arts. Students take part in activities such as drama, games, improvisation, dance and music. They learn skills such as mime, stage combat, vocal technique and are given the opportunity to put into practice what they have learnt in regular live performances.
Working with like minded individuals in a theatrical environment is a fantastic way of breaking down barriers, gaining confidence, meeting new people and having a lot of fun in the process.
At Urban Stage the emphasis is on performance, with all students having the opportunity to work with and learn from highly experienced professionals from the entertainment industry.
We operate in Manchester with branches currently in Swinton and Withington.
