Patron

As part of our 10th Anniversary celebrations in 2013, Urban Stage was excited to announce the appointment of it's Patron, Oscar nominated actress Imelda Staunton CBE.

In 2011 Urban Stage principal, Simeon Truby, performed in the Stephen Sondheim musical 'Sweeney Todd' at Chichester Festival Theatre alongside Imelda and Michael Ball. The show was a huge success and subsequently transferred to London's West End and won several awards including an Olivier Best Actress in a musical for Imelda. Simeon immediatley saw in her all the qualities that are our ethos at Urban Stage; hard work, dedication and teamwork. He approached her to become the schools patron to which she delightfully accepted.

"I know the power of Drama and Music

I know it makes us better human beings

I know how much it has meant to me

I relish how tough and totally rewarding the work is and that is why I want to be associated with a company that recognises the importance of dedication, hard graft and commitment, because with these qualities each and every student working at Urban Stage will have the time of their lives.

So I am delighted to become its patron - let the fun begin!"
