Achievements
At Urban Stage we are very proud of the achievements of both our students and staff. Here are some examples of the progress of past and present students and some of the other work we undertake at Urban Stage.

Community Work
Developed workshops and provided practitioners for Swinton High School
- Performance, vocal and microphone skills with Year 8 (in preparation for school showcase)
- KS4 Year 10, students who are underachieving and near to exclusion (creating, performing and understanding drama at GCSE level)
- Motivation Through Drama at the Lowry Arts Centre (providing ideas for secondary school drama teachers)
Working with Manchester Road Safety Department
- 10 week project with year 9 students at Cedar Mount High School, Gorton to develop, write and perform a play around a road safety theme with the students' devising and acting input. The play was then filmed, converted into DVD format and distributed to 150 Manchester schools, accompanied by a workbook.
Working with Greater Manchester Police
- Developed, wrote and performed a dramatic piece around the theme of robbery within schools, using professional actors and supplemented with post performance student workshops. This is an ongoing project.
Other Achievements
- Adult students have been signed up by acting agents
- Many students have performed in proffesional theatre productions at local theatres including The Opera House, Royal Exchange, The Lowry, Bolton Octagon.
- Annually, Withington students take part in the Didsbury Festival
- Students have achieved grades in LAMDA acting exams
- Alderley Edge Drama Festival 2008 - Student won Best acting monologue for age group 9 - 11 years
- Students have been accepted at the National Youth Theatre
- We offer work placement opportunities for Urban Stage youth theatre senior students. Urban Stage has also assisted in securing work placements at the Library Theatre, Manchester & Media 186 (film production company), as well as working alongside Urban Stage staff
- Urban Stage organise regular professional theatre trips for students introducing and expanding their knowledge of playwrights and theatres. Such trips have included visits to Theatre by the Lake, Keswick; West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds; Oldham Coliseum; Library Theatre, Manchester and Octagon Theatre, Bolton. Watching a production is normally accompanied by a back stage tour and a meeting with the company. On many occasions, students will be watching their Urban Stage teaching staff in these professional productions
